On April 9th, 2006, my life was turned upside down. I received an early morning call from my daughter-in-law saying that my first born had been killed by a hit and run driver. He was killed doing one of the things he loved to do – riding his motorcycle. Jimmy had moved his wife and daughter to Fl in 7/04 because he wanted them to have a better life. His wife is keeping his wishes and refuses to move back to PA.  She is raising their daughter according to Jimmy’s wishes.

Jimmy and I were very close.  A day didn’t go by where we didn’t call each other to say how much we loved one another.  Jimmy was a generous and kind hearted person. He touched so many lives. He greeted everyone with a huge smile, he was polite and outgoing.  Jimmy had a wonderful sense of humor, he was full of love and a he was a whole lot of fun. Jimmy was a wonderful son. He also was a protective older brother to his younger brother, Michael.

I thank God everyday for the time that Jimmy was in my life.  Even though he’s not on this earth anymore, he will always be here in my heart.  He may be gone, but he will never be forgotten.  Through the help of my husband and pastor, I am dealing with the loss of my son.  I have another son and granddaughter that I must be strong for. People say that it gets better with time, but it hasn’t for me.

I want to thank Bob and Diane Resciniti for all that they have done for me, my granddaughter and daughter-in-law. I wish I could have met them through better circumstances, but the both of them are truly a blessing. The Resciniti’s have a quote written at the bottom of their email and it is so true – A wife who loses a husband is called a widow. A husband who loses a wife is called a widower. A child who loses his parents is called an orphan. But…there is NO word for a parent who loses a child, that’s how awful the loss is!

I remember how my dad used to pick me up with his strong and gentle hands holding me tight and giving me love hugs.  As I sit here writing this and holding back my tears, I miss my dad.  My dad told me in my dreams to take these parts from him: His head to think, his mouth to talk, his belly to eat, his legs to keep moving and his heart to love.  My dad’s loving heart tells me that everything is going to be okay.  My dad will never be gone.  He will always be here with me.

James North was more than a brother, he was my best friend.  He was a father who was in his daughter’s life more than anyone would ever know.  He was a good husband who wanted nothing but the best for his family.  He was a son who loved his mother and father very much.  Jimmy will be sadly missed forever by his family and this world.  I can’t wait to see him again, I love you Jimmy.

Your brother, Michael
