Tyler was killed July 17, 2008 on an “Angel Flight” in Tampa, Florida. Tyler had a chance to go to Orlando for a few days with friends and he refused, as he already made a promise to a family friend to be there for her. Instead of traveling to Orlando with friends, Tyler accompanied a family friend on a flight to H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. How many 15 year olds do you know who would do that?
The Tyler McClellan Foundation
We are a non-profit organization that supports youth sports teams in their need to be succesful.. The mission of this organization is to reward perseverance and not allow a family’s finances to hold youth sports players back. The foundation is designed to help lower income families cover the cost of items not paid for by registration or the school, such as cleats and camp fees. It’s a way to help keep Tyler’s memory alive, and that’s where we want to focus. We support all youth sports, with an emphasis on football as it meant a lot to Tyler. It was a big part of his life. And he loved playing the game.
