Katherine Miller

Katherine had never dreamed of being a doctor.  She flinched at the slightest mention of the word.  However, when she graduated from the University of Virginia with a major in the classics, she was resolute that becoming a doctor and helping people to lead healthier lives was her vocation.  When she was diagnosed with stage four colorectal cancer she was 25 years old and just completing her first year of medical school.  She died 5 months later at the age of 26 years.  We, her family, have taken up her goal to raise awareness of young adult cancer so that others will not die needlessly.
